Joy Carter - CEO and founder of Adoption Arena
Expect insightful ‘life keys’ for adoptees and parents, explorative writing on adoption/fostering news and interviews with influential individuals /celebrities in ‘sharing joy’.
Joy started off life working as a dancer and Theatre Designer before moving into stand up comedy professionally in 2000. During an interview in 2005 for Channel 4 talking about her transracial adoption from Nigeria she was asked to become a media speaker for British Association of Adoption and fostering (BAAF) now CoramBaaf. Through this relationship and subsequent media appointments that followed she wanted to combine the power of humour to explain and explore the complexities of the adoption journey, especially to reach into new demographics of society. As a result, Joy is performing her award winning UK Festival comedy show called ‘Spot the Difference’ to pubs, clubs, universities, schools and community venues, as she explores the challenges and family tensions of the adoption journey. Joy also has a powerful motivational talk and humour seminar that is both hilarious and engaging.
